Commercial real estate brokerage firm JLL (NYSE: JLL) today announced Rick Spector, senior vice president of retail brokerage, raised nearly $25,000 in 10 weeks for the Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Spector was one of 17 men and women who competed in the “Man/Woman of the Year” competition (MWOY) sponsored by LLS to see who could raise the most money for blood cancer research. The Gateway Chapter raised a grand total of $690,000 through the MWOY competition.
“The results of the campaign are amazing,” said Spector. “Every one of the individuals in the competition really went above and beyond to make it a hugely successful fundraiser for the LLS and to help raise awareness about blood cancer research. I’m honored to have been a part of it all.”
According to LLS, more than 1 million Americans are living with blood cancer; and every four minutes one person in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. To support its mission to find cures for blood cancer patients, and ensure access to treatments, LLS enlists influential and compassionate community leaders like Spector as MWOY candidates competing to raise funds in honor of one local boy and girl living with blood cancer. This is the 24th year for the campaign, which raised $38 million last year nationally.
